MAANSIK DOSHAS
MANSIK DOSHAS
We wrapped up our series of physical Tridoshas in our previous articles. Not so far accustomed to Doshas, then do cast your eyes upon the same!
After setting the seal on the physical Tridoshas, let's go through the mental or Maansik Doshas.
Just as the physical Doshas are accountable for the physical well-being and physical distortion of an individual,in the same way, mental Doshas take charge of mental welfare and at the same time, when vitiated, make a mess of the former.
These Mansik Tridoshas give the impression of three Doshas, namely Satva,Raja and Tama. These Doshas not only influence our mind but also are astonishingly explicable for the creation of the Universe! It's quite apparent that all the substances present in the Universe are made up of the Panchamahabhuta ; the air (Vaayu), the fire (Agni), the sky (Aakash), the water (Jala) and the earth (Prithvi). These Mahabhutas cannot solely create the entire Universe. For this purpose, they require the help of these Tridoshas as each Dosha has its very own distinctive properties, which is described in a detailed manner underneath. As they contribute to this noble task of sowing the seeds of the cosmos, they are also referred to as The Trigunas! In all respects, both the Panchamahabhuta as well as the Trigunas join forces to give rise to an individual, which also determines the psychological behavior or Manas Prakriti of the human being. So,let's get a glimpse of the Trigunas.
1) Satva
Precisely, Satva is not a Dosha, rather it is a virtuous quality in itself! It does not lead to any deformity in the mind and thinking of a person.
It is also said that when the mind is occupied with Satva Guna and not hindered by the Rajas and Tamas Doshas, the person can attain salvation or the Moksha, because the Satva Guna only insists a human to perform good deeds, follow morals and ethics, navigates her/him towards the righteous path which ultimately adds up to her/his Karmas and liberates her/him from all the sinful deeds committed ever along with their consequences.
2) Raja
Raja Dosha is renowned as the prominent mental Dosha as it is the propagator of the other Dosha or the Tamas Dosha. In the absence of Raja, even aggravated Tama is not capable of playing its respective role. Raja Dosha enables tempestuousness of the mind and diverts the mind towards greed and alluring impulses. It is the activator and proliferator of enticing urges and fantasies. It compels the mind to act panicky, exaggerating and doubtful.
3) Tama
Tama,as the name suggests, means darkness or gloominess. It is the main cause of indolence and malaise incubating in an individual. Due to its heavy trait, it fosters sluggishness, phlegm and fatigue, thereby promoting stagnation and immobility.
Thus, Satva,Raja and Tama correspondingly denote perfection, agility and dormancy. Coming back to the creation of the cosmos, the Satva initiates fabrication of the Universe through evoking intellect and knowledge. Rajas Dosha embarks the act of genesis while Tamas Dosha provokes cessation of the activities leading to the formation of the Universe. When aggravated, these Doshas cause malfunctioning of the mind inhabiting it with greed, anger, amourness, sadness, jealousy and hatred. These Trigunas are omnicorporeal due to the superlative properties possessed by them, hence, one must strive to balance the Doshas and augment the Satva Guna in order to achieve remarkable mental health and peace !
